Tripoli— The head of the GNU has promised a delegation from Kufra city in southeast Libya to speed up stalled projects in the city as a part of improving living conditions of Libyan citizens in the region.
The discussion that took place in Tripoli on Thursday with a delegation, comprised of the wise men and dignitaries of Kufra, focusing on improving the University of Kufra’s conditions in order to support higher education, in addition to developing the infrastructure in the city, according to the Government of National Unity (GNU) Facebook platform Hakomitna.
The GNU is intensifying its efforts in many parts of the country to show that it is taking the needs of the population into consideration, especially as it is trying to compete with the Parliament-appointed government in eastern Libya. In the east, they are rebuilding the city of Derna that was destroyed by Storm Daniel in September 2023, and they seem to be comparably making headways.
The meeting also discussed the second phase of the Bouzreq-Kufra road project, with a length of 90 kilometers. Dbeibah stressed his government’s commitment to completing vital projects that enhance local development and improve the level of services.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, Mr. Dbeibah reviewed in a meeting with officials executive plans related to his Housing Initiative, which aims to constructing 30,000 housing units in the first phase, according to Hakomitna.
The meeting reviewed the structures’ plans, financing mechanisms and the efforts made to overcome obstacles as to ensure the project is implemented according to the specified timetable.
The Minister of Transport, his Financial Advisor, the Minister of Housing and Construction, the Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, as well as the Head of the Executive Team attended the meeting for the PM’s Initiatives and Strategic Projects. This is in addition to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Savings and Real Estate Investment Bank, the Director General of the Housing and Utilities Projects Implementation Agency, and the heads of the Real Estate Registration and Public Property Authorities, Hakomitna reported.
