Tripoli— The Government of National Unity (GNA) announced that the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mr. Adel Jumaa was subjected to an assassination attempt in Tripoli on Wednesday morning, and he is in stable condition, no one claimed responsibility yet.
Mr. Jumma’s car was hit by a hail of about 14 bullets on the highway in the capital, Tripoli, after he left the Palm City village area. He was immediately transferred to the Accidents Hospital of Abu Salim where it was reported that he was shot in both his feet.
The GNU condemned the assassination attempt which occurred on the highway in Tripoli, and that the security services have begun their investigations to track down the perpetrators, According to a statement by the GNU’s official Facebook platform, Hakomitna.
Mr. Jumaa is a long time bureaucrat who spent most of his official career at the Ministry of Education. He joined the GNU since its onset in February 2021. He is presently acting as a the GNU’s chief of staff of sorts, holding some of the important government’s files.
The government added that it “will not tolerate any attempts that target state security or threaten the stability of the country, and stresses the continuation of its efforts to make every effort to enhance security and impose the rule of law,” the statement added.
