Sebha_ For a vast country such as Libya that spans over more than two million square kilometers, driving in the Sahara Desert and its huge sand dunes is both a surviving skill and an entertaining hoppy.
To help interested people get grasp of how to drive in the desert and move “smoothly” across its great sand dunes, Maghadet Team for Organizing Rallies and Desert Tours (MTORDT) has undertaken the task to make you do just that.
On Wednesday, MTORDT concluded one of its training courses and the results were excellent, according to the organizers and the trainees
The 38 trainees from different regions of the country who participated in the course, that took place in the famous Zallaf sand dunes in southern Libya, said the training experience was exceptional, enjoyable and informative.
The course included lectures and practical training supervised by the head of MTORDT Mr. Mohieddin Kaabar. Trainees learn what they need to prepare in terms of the type of vehicles, car spare parts, cloths, other supplies for desert accommodation as well as how to deal with risks while driving on sand dunes and slopes.
“To be in the Libyan Desert is an experience that one should repeat a thousand times,” said one of the participants named Uraib. “Training session in the classroom was different from the practical training in the field. Driving on the sand dunes was fearful and dangerous somehow. We are still beginners,” Mustafa Mahjoub explained.
Another trainee surprised by the experience in the vast desert and the sand dunes saying “our country is so unbelievably beautiful I call on everyone to love Libya.”
Ahmed Ghezaiwi who is a member of the a motorcycle group in Tripoli said while standing near a beautiful Lake surrounded by sand dunes in the middle of the Libyan Desert “It’s very scary at first, especially when you go up or down the sand dunes”.
Maghadet Team wrote on its Facebook page: “Driving on sand can be an exciting and adventurous experience, but it can also be challenging, especially for those who are not familiar with driving on such terrain. Whether driving in the desert and on the sand dunes, it is essential to know how to drive on moving sand without getting stuck.”
