PM Dbeibah, President Erdogan, Discuss Libya-Turkey Cooperation

Ankara— The head of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Abdulhamid Dbeibah held talks with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the presidential palace in the capital Ankara on Wednesday. The visit aims at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Libya and Turkey in various fields, according to a statement by GNU’s official Facebook platform Hakomitna.

The meeting discussed regional and international developments, as well as ways to enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The developments in the situation in Libya and the government’s efforts to achieve stability and development were also discussed, as “President Erdogan stressed Turkey’s support for these efforts at various levels, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries,” the statement said.

On his part, PM Dbeibah underlined the importance of the visit in “strengthening the strategic partnership with Turkey,” stressing that bilateral cooperation will be pivotal in achieving sustainable development in Libya. He also expressed “the government’s appreciation for Turkish support in several areas.”

The Minister of State for Communications and Political Affairs Walid Ellafi accompanied Mr. Dbeibah on the visit and he participated in the discussions on “strengthening communication channels between the two countries within the framework of effective diplomacy,” Hakomitna added.
