Tripoli_ As part of its plan to modernize the oil sector infrastructure, Libya National Oil Corporation (NOC) is now introducing, with help from partner foreign companies, renewable energy technologies to meet its electricity need in oil fields that are spread all over the Libyan desert.
In cooperation with the German Technology Holding GmbH (GTG), NOC organized on 28 November a workshop focused on GTG’s services in the fields of technology including technical consulting, project development, technology transfer, and investment in modern technology.
NOC has recently signed a contract with GTG to establish a solar power plant in Ubari with a capacity exceeding 600 megawatts.
Meanwhile, NOC reported on Thursday that an increase in oil production has occurred within the last 24 hours at a rate of 5,377 bpd, bringing the total production of crude oil and condensates to 1,391,407 barrels.
At the workshop, GTG’s presenters explained how their services could contribute to improving the digital infrastructure and developing sustainable energy projects in oil fields.
Environmental sustainability and modernization of the oil sector according to international standards along with future cooperation between the two parties were also discussed at the gathering.
