Menfi Meets Bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi_ The Libyan President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi met today Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi and discussed the bilateral relations between Libya and UAE.

The top Libyan political official, accompanied by the Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush, underlined the necessity for the political process in Libya to succeed and said that Libyans expect the UAE will be supporting such process which will lead to stability and security in the country.

He also discussed with the Emirates’ leader the upcoming Berlin conference on Libya which will be held later this month in Germany.

Meeting with Ms. Mangoush, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the UAE Foreign Minister, underlined the UAE-Libyan relations and pointed out that the UAE supports all efforts that lead to a secure, stable and prosperous Libya. He also valued the efforts made by the Libyan National Unity Government to create all the appropriate conditions for holding the elections scheduled for 24 December.

The UAE, Qatar and many other countries have been heavily intervening in the internal affairs of Libya since 2011. They have kept supporting fighting militias against each other which consequently prolonged the Libya crisis for over a decade.
