Tripoli—Zallaf Oil and Gas Exploration, Production and Refining Company has launched this week its production operations in the Chadar oil field NC-126 with a production rate that reached 1,500 barrels of crude oil on the first day.

It has also produced more than 7.5 million cubic feet of associated gas per day from well A1/A, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Wednesday.

This launch of production is important as far as NOC is concerned in that it aims to significantly increase the overall oil production in Libya. NOC has adopted a plan to do so and it has showed considerable result in the year of 2024.

Meanwhile, Zallaf has made a rather bold move by moving part of its management facilities and personnel to southern Libya in a bit to localize operations in areas and cities near the oil fields.

In a rather bold move and maybe unprecedented, Zallaf Oil Production Company succeeded during the year 2024 in localizing more than 50% of the company’s departments and divisions in the southern regions of Libya. The move comes as a part of implementing NOC’s long-term strategy to contribute to sustainable development all over Libya.

“Despite the difficulty of the task, the Board of Directors and by the efforts of its employees, Zallaf Company will seek to complete the localization plan during the year 2025,” NOC said on its web site.

“Zallaf will fulfill its promises to the people in the cities of the south, driven by ambition and hope to implement a package of development projects according to plan, aiming to contribute to a better economic and social environment in most regions of the south, in addition to providing suitable job opportunities for its youth,” it added.
